ECGT × BLUEPASS

Claims are moving from words to evidence.

PALTEX helps brands prepare clearer, verifiable material claims through bluepass-certified Articles.

The standard for sustainability communication is changing

Textile sustainability communication is entering a more evidence-based phase under ECGT.
The EU Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (Directive (EU) 2024/825), commonly referred to as ECGT, introduces stricter rules for environmental claims and sustainability labels. For textile and apparel brands, material-related communication will need to be more specific, substantiated, and easier to verify.

THE RULES APPLY FROM 27 SEPTEMBER 2026

01

SPECIFIC

Name exactly what the claim covers.

02

SUBSTANTIATED

Connect the claim to credible evidence.

03

VERIFIABLE

Make that evidence easy to access.

Sustainability labels must be backed by a certification scheme or established by a public authority.

Name the certified component.

bluepass certification applies to the specific article, not automatically to the finished product.

Confirm the fabric is actively listed in the bluesign Guide.

CORRECT EXAMPLE

“This jacket’s outer fabric is bluepass certified and was produced through processes that meet bluesign Criteria.”

AVOID

“This jacket is bluepass certified.”

Unless the finished jacket itself qualifies as a bluepass Consumer Product.

Name the certified component.
